New Network Cycle Planners

Introducing our new Network Cycle Planners

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new Network Cycle Planners, designed to help cyclists discover, plan and navigate popular routes across the National Cycle Network.

What's the best way to navigate the National Cycle Network?

Walk Wheel Cycle Trust's Network Cycle Planners cover popular areas of the National Cycle Network so that you can find your way along the network with confidence. We know that cyclists like to use a mixture of print and digital resources when planning and navigating routes. Therefore, each planner includes:

  • A waterproof, durable printed map
  • A free, comprehensive digital guide including an introduction to the network, 6 planned routes, guidance on what to pack and an index of campsites, bike hire and bike shops.
  • Free GPX files for GPS navigation.

What areas do the maps cover?

Both have been published in partnership with Saddle Skedaddle, a leading independent cycling holiday specialist based in the UK that organises guided and self-guided bike tours on the National Cycle Network. Other Network Cycle Planners include:

How is a Network Cycle Planner different from Sustrans regional maps?

They are a new and improved map range. The Network Cycle Planners have a different scale that is more suited to cyclists. They are also larger in size and come with a free complementary digital guide and GPX files.

Who are the Network Cycle Planners for?

These planners are designed with leisure cyclists in mind. That's why we've chosen a scale of 1:50,000 and included the following on each map:

  • Traffic-free paths
  • Quiet lanes
  • Easy-to-read contours for understanding terrain
  • Key landmarks, attractions, and scenic highlights.

Where does the money from my purchase go?

When you buy a Network Cycle Planner from Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (previously Sustrans), you're doing more than purchasing a map. Every purchase helps support our charitable work to make it easier for more people to walk, wheel and cycle across the UK. Funds help us improve and grow the National Cycle Network, create safer and more accessible routes, and encourage more people to choose active travel for everyday journeys and leisure trips.
