Scenic Cycling in the Peak District
19 circular routes for all abilities
In Scenic Cycling in the Peak District, experienced outdoor instructor and mountain rescuer, Carina Humberstone, shares her love of cycling and her in-depth knowledge of the central and southern Peak District with 19 cycle routes of varying difficulty.
The guidebook offers cycle routes for all abilities and types of bikes (including e-bikes), that explore the quieter lanes and pleasant off-road tracks, largely avoiding busy main roads; perfect for riders who are new to or returning to bike riding.
The rides range from short, gentle loops incorporating the easy terrain of the popular cycle trails such as the Tissington Trail, to longer and more challenging tours of the hills and dales, both on and off-road. The routes are graded on terrain, hills and fitness level required, to help you choose your perfect ride.
Navigation
Route descriptions are comprehensive and have accompanying maps, supplemented with photos of the terrain that will be encountered with each ride to avoid those nasty hill surprises! For cyclists that prefer to use mapping software, the guide also links to downloadable GPX files for each route.
Each route has been carefully planned, avoiding busy roads whilst taking you through beautiful landscapes and quaint villages. Most routes can be completed in half a day at a leisurely pace, with cafe stops included.
This book is the ideal guide for those looking for an introduction to cycling in the Peaks, those wanting to discover off-road riding or those who just want to explore more cycling options.
